Less spicy, green peas stuffed wheat bread.
Ingredients:
Wheat Flour - 5 cups
Green Peas/Matar - 2 cups
Cumin/Jeera Seeds - 1 tsp
Cayenne Pepper/Red Chilli Powder - 1 tsp
Black Pepper Powder - 1/4 tsp
Cilantro/Coriander Leaves - few sprigs
Salt
Oil
Method:
1. In a mixing bowl, add wheat flour and little salt. Adding water knead well to form a soft dough. Keep it covered for about 2 hours.
2. Heat about 1 tbsp oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. After few seconds, add green peas. Saute for about 5 minutes. Add salt, cayenne pepper, black pepper powder and saute till peas get cooked. Turn off the heat and add chopped cilantro. Mix and let the stuffing cool.
3. Make round balls of the wheat dough and roll each one big enough (4 - 5 inches diameter) to hold the stuffing. Add 1 - 2 tbsp peas stuffing and gather the edges to form a round ball. Let the stuffed balls rest for a couple of minutes. Roll the stuffed balls as per desired thickness dusting some flour.
4. Heat a tawa/griddle and roast the parathas applying butter or oil. While roasting, slightly press the parathas with a spatula for even cooking. Serve hot Matar Paranthas with curry or pickles or curd.
