Sam's Club Prepared Meals

Hey everyone! How is winter treating you? Texas is a blessing in the harsh winter months. But, I still miss snow on Christmas Day. I would love to go to Michigan or a cold part of the US to enjoy a White Snowy Christmas.

There are days when I feel low and I am unable to cook. Some days, I feel like eating something different. And takeout can get pretty expensive. At times like these, prepared Store Bought Meals are a good option. Today, I am sharing 5 of our family favorite meals from Sam's Club.

Let me start with everyone's favorite - Pizza. Cheese Pizza from Sam's club Cafe is one of our go to meals on grocery shopping days. $9 for a 16" Baked Cheese or Meat or Pepperoni Pizza is a good deal, in my opinion. Goes well with a simple Garden Salad or Caesar Salad.

Next one is Mexican Enchiladas. Two kinds are available - Rotisserie Chicken Enchiladas, Hatch Chile & Chicken Enchiladas. Hatch Chile one is cheesier and costs slightly more than the other. Both are about $15 for a big tray. For our family of 3, it is way too much and we end up with leftovers.

Salmon Nuggets, my kiddo's favorite. This frozen 2 lb seafood dinner option for about $15 is perfect on busy days. Pair it with carrots, cucumbers, ranch dressing and kiddo is happy.

The last one is perfect on rainy days. Vegetarian Broccoli Cheddar Soup with Sourdough Bread is quite comforting on cold days. About $12 for both the soup and bread.

Feel free to share your favorite go to meals on busy days.

Indian Dal / Lentils

Lentils, known as Dal are a staple in an Indian diet, especially vegetarian. For me, dal is comfort food. 5 different dal varieties - Toor, Moong, Chana, Masoor and Urad are commonly used in Indian sweet and savory delicacies. You can cook dal with just one kind or a mix of two or more. I generally cook dal with 1:1 Toor and Moong dals. But then, we like Panchmel or Panchratna Dal too, which is made of all five. Most dal recipes have Toor dal as the primary ingredient. It is also known as Toovar or Arhar dal or Split Pigeon Peas . Some of our family favorite dal recipes are Dalitoy (Konkani Dal)  Tadka Dal Among all lentils, moong dal and masoor dal take lesser time to cook. Moong dal is also known as Split Green Gram or Split Mung Bean . Moong dal is also used in making sweet dishes like Mung Dal Kheer  Mung Dal Puranpoli Chana dal is also known as Split Bengal Gram or Split Chickpeas . Chana Dal takes a little more time to cook as compared to toor dal....

Naval Kol Bhaji / Kohlrabi Stir-fry

Green Kohlrabi called as Navalkol in Marathi and Navilkosu in Kannada, belongs to the cabbage family.  My Mom used to make this stir fry very often.  Just like cabbage, this vegetable in available in two colors - green and purple.  I was quite hesitant about the purple one, as I haven't seen that back in India.  Anyway, I picked the green bulbs and Navalkohl Bhaji with Chana Dal was part of our healthy vegetarian meal today.
