Sabudana (Sago) Chivda

sabudana chivda
Easy Chivda made with ready to fry Nylon Sabudana/Sago and peanuts.  Ideal for fasts.

Ingredients:
Nylon Sabudana/Sago - 1 1/2 cup
Raw Peanuts - 1/2 cup
Potato Chips - about 5
Green Chillies - 4 (optional)
Powdered Sugar - 1/2 tsp
Salt
Oil

How to make Sabudana or Sago Chivda:
1. Wash green chillies and pat them dry.  Chop the green chillies.
2. Heat enough oil for deep frying. Deep fry chopped chillies till they turn crisp.  Save it for later.
3. Deep fry peanuts till they turn slightly brown in colour.  Keep them aside.

4. Deep fry Nylon Sago till the sago pearls almost double in size.  Do not add too many pearls at a time, sago will remain uncooked.  Be careful while frying sago pearls.
5. In a mixing bowl, add fried peanuts, sago and green chillies.  Add salt, sugar and cracked potato chips.  Add fried Cashews if you like.  Mix well and Sabudana Chivda is ready.  Instead of ridged potato chips you can add grated fried potatoes.  Store it in an air tight container after cooling.

  10. Yes Preeti, Nylon Sabudana is different from regular sago in terms of size. Nylon Sago pearls are bigger in size. You can get it in an Indian store.
